Our Platform National Platform County Bylaws
The Shawnee County Democrats are dedicated to serving the more than 35,000 Democrats of Shawnee County. We strive to promote the Democratic Party platform. We support local and national Democratic candidates who campaign to improve conditions across the board for all Americans. Join us for our next meeting!

We invite you to get involved with us in making Shawnee County a more tolerant, democratic place to live. You can join the club, become a precinct committee person or you can volunteer to be on one of our committees below! You can even do all three! If you have interest in becoming a precinct committee person or joining a committee, please contact us.
Committees
Communications: The Communications Committee is responsible for maintaining the website, creating graphics, sending newsletters, making relevant posts on social media, creating flyers, producing short videos, and other marketing and communications-related duties as they arise.
Events: The Events Committee of the Shawnee County Democratic Committee has three goals: 1) To make known the presence of the Shawnee County Democrats in our community; 2) To increase people’s involvement by volunteering, getting out the vote (GOTV), supporting candidates as well as financial contributions to the county party; 3) To inform our community and voters on issues that directly affect their lives here in Kansas. Ongoing events and activities include the Bean Feed, summer picnic, First Friday Art Walk, and area parades.
Rules and Bylaws: The Rules and Bylaws Committee will consider all recommendations for adoption of the amendment to the rules and bylaws, conduct the balloting. It is recommended that committee members be well versed in parliamentary procedure.
Steering: The Steering Committee is to formulate views, identify the need for change, respond to strategic opportunities, threats and other developments in the environment in which services are performed and advise the County Chairperson and the Executive Board on matters of strategic and operational importance to the Shawnee County Democrats as a whole so that the work of the Shawnee County Democrats continues to be effective in protecting the public interest and strengthening public confidence our stated goal.
